Hitsona Green Impact Initiative
Hitsona launched a Green Impact Initiative in partnership with Greenspark, enabling gym members to support verified environmental projects alongside their fitness journey.
Members can opt into a supplementary climate impact membership tier - costing less than a monthly cappuccino - that directly funds conservation work: planting native trees in deforested regions including Madagascar, Kenya, and Haiti, and recovering ocean-bound plastic before it reaches marine ecosystems. Impact contributions are tracked in real time and publicly verifiable through Hitsona's Greenspark profile.
The initiative was piloted at Hitsona Chertsey before being rolled out across the wider Hitsona estate.

Brief
Hitsona wanted to launch meaningful climate initiatives tied directly to gym memberships, but needed to bridge the gap between GoTeamUp's membership events and Greenspark's recurring impact API - GoTeamUp fires a one-time sign-up event with no monthly repeat, while Greenspark's API requires ongoing scheduled triggers to record recurring impact. A bespoke middleware solution was needed.
My Role
Lead Developer (Tsium)- Serverless Middleware: Architected and built a C#/.NET 10 Azure Function receiving Zapier webhook triggers from GoTeamUp membership events, bridging them to Greenspark and scheduling recurring monthly impact creation.
- Location-Specific Widgets: Built embeddable HTML/iframe impact banners showing live environmental metrics per Hitsona location - trees planted, plastic recovered - queryable by site.
- Impact Scheduling Engine: Automated monthly recurring impact creation with real-time membership verification against GoTeamUp's API to ensure accuracy.
- Secure Multi-Location Architecture: Per-location GoTeamUp credential management with OAuth 2.0 and Azure Key Vault secret storage, supporting independent operation across the estate.
