Training Passport

Training Passport is a SaaS platform that helps individuals, trainers, and organisations record Continuous Professional Development (CPD), monitor training activity, and demonstrate compliance with mandatory learning requirements.

Brief

Organisations across regulated industries struggle to maintain accurate, auditable records of training attendance and CPD. Manual processes are time-consuming, prone to error, and difficult to report against - leaving compliance gaps that expose businesses and professionals to regulatory risk. At the same time, individuals lack a portable, verifiable record of their own professional development journey.

Approach

The platform supports three core user groups:

Individuals, who use it to log professional development, enhance their CV, and provide evidence of competence
Presenters and trainers, who use it to verify attendance and collect anonymous session feedback
Organisations, who use it to meet governance, audit, and regulatory compliance requirements

Training Passport is designed for use across a range of sectors, including:

Workforce and Corporate Training: induction, health and safety, leadership development
Construction and Civil Engineering: asbestos awareness, working at height
Finance and Legal: data protection, anti-money laundering, conflicts of interest
Healthcare: safeguarding, surgical procedures, medication administration, and professional revalidation

Training Passport is currently being trialled within the NHS to improve efficiency in training compliance and governance.

My Role

Senior Developer (Tsium)

Platform Architecture: Designed and built the core SaaS architecture - .NET Core MVC, API layer, Progressive Web App (PWA) backed by Azure SQL and monitoring via Application Insights.
Mentoring: Used the project as a structured onboarding vehicle for two junior developers joining tsium with no prior experience beyond bootcamp - mentoring them across the full stack, from database design and backend development to frontend implementation.
Multi-Tenancy: Implemented white-label customisation for corporate branding, database sharding and SSO integration for enterprise deployments.
Attendance Verification: Implemented QR code and unique link-based attendance verification, including an offline scanning capability for mobile devices without network access.
CPD & Compliance Engine: Built the CPD tracking, training history, and real-time compliance reporting modules, enabling organisations to monitor onboarding and mandatory training obligations.
Feedback & Survey System: Developed anonymous post-session feedback collection and comprehension survey functionality for training presenters.
